24 Penang - Kuala Lumpur
12. Feb 2007
Before leaving Penang, I had to pay airport fee, about 7 US dollars. After I was taken to the actual tower - where I had to pay navigational charges – another 4 dollars. Now this is what I call reasonable fees!
The tower filed my flight plan as well, and after a short time I was off to Kala Lumpur.
I had to stay until Monday in Malaysia to wait for the permit to go to Indonesia. But as it was time for a 100 service check on the engine I located a Cessna Service Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
After a relatively short flight I landed ILS on runway 15 in Kulang airport. I found the Cessna workshop, but as it turned out, they had no experience in Lycoming engines. They were very helpful though, and they managed to find a guy who will change the oil and oil filter tomorrow morning.
So I was off in a Taxi for half an hour ride to the hotel in this quite impressive city. A far cry from when I was first her some 30 years ago!
Back then I was here, to see if I could get passage on a ship to Australia, in the nearby port of Klang.
