16 Corfu - Adana
26. Jan 2007
I was picked up at 9 in the morning by the handling company and taken to the airport. First to the tower, where I had a friendly assistance getting the flight plan finalised ( they did not want me over Athens) and the to another office to actually file it. Was then offered coffee in the met office waiting for them to print out a briefing and then I could go to the plane where I got fuel.
After that it was back to the office of the handling company, to settle the bill – and here I was in for an unpleasant surprise, because the price of fuel was much higher than I had bee Quoted by the handling company. Instead of 0.995 Euro per litre the price was 2.46 Euro. Or about 12 us dollars pr. Gallon. Extremely expensive.
After take off from Corfu at 11.40 the route went over Peloponnese out over the Greek Islands down to Milos, where I was allowed to change route to go via Rhodos rather than all the way down to Cyprus. Coming in over the coast of Turkey I was in for some spectacular mountains (see gallery).
I had to climb to 15.000 ft. to cross. Came over Antalya and later I arrived in Adana after nightfall on a runway that had no runway edge lighting…
The handling company arranged a hotel opposite a splendid mosque.
